The XR is a sport oriented Sportster. Better suited to one up riding. The gas tank is standard for Sportster of that time. Later Sports and 1200c 's have 4 to 4.5 gallon tanks. If you are looking to a Sportster, and a passenger seat is wanted, go for a standard Sportster. There are plenty available for less than the $6000 you list for the XR.
